The process starts with an ERP analyst. The ERP analyst is the first person to be hired after a company has decided that the ERP system is to be deploy. The job responsibilities of ERP analyst are very extensive. The job starts with running analysis of the work flow of the organization. The analyst observes and understand the actual procedure in which the work is done in the organization. This is not limited to the production floor. Instead it runs in all the parts of organization.

The ERP system has to be spread in every single part of the organization. The main task of ERP system is to streamline every single process in the company. This is made possible through ERP. The system creates a main artery through which the blood of the organization flows. It is the job of ERP analyst to perform work flow and organizational structure assessment and based on this information, create a white paper and direct every task related to ERP.

Then come the IT department personnel. They are specially trained personnel who do the actual work related to deployment of the ERP system as well as its administration and maintenance. These personnel work according to the directions given by the ERP analyst as well as by the who's who of the company IT department. Their work begins by auditing the IT infrastructure and by making sure that the computing resources can take the ERP system .

They make the decision which ERP system is to be purchased in accordance with ERP analyst's guidance. The main task is to upgrade the IT infrastructure and ensuring operating system compliance. Installation of both the server and client modules be they based on Linux or Windows is also their responsibility. Once the system is deployed, it is their responsibility to ensure that the system is up and running all the time.

Third type of ERP jobs are those of trainers. They work under the guidance of Personnel Management or Human Resources Management department and operate in consultation with the ERP analyst. The task of these trainers is to train the rank and file employees in the usage of ERP systems. They are specially certified by the ERP developer company in most of the cases.

In some of the cases people double up ERP jobs where analyst also becomes trainer or a part of the IT team.
