Erp Implementation Project

Five Factors For The Success Of ERP Implementation Project

An Enterprise Resource Planning solution if implemented in the proper manner can be a great achiever for any business organization. However the very bulk of the work involved makes successful implementation a very daunting task. In order to ensure successful ERP implementation project, the people who are involved in the project need to take care of five very basic things. These things are proper planning of the project, architecture, data collection and usage, testing and evaluation.

First and foremost factor which has to be considered here is the planning of the entire project. You can consider the implementation of an ERP system as equal to doing a complete overhaul of you business. It has to be done in a completely planned manner. Not even the movement of a pin can be left to chance. The degree of mobilization of resources in the entire implementation exercise would be massive. With proper planning, it would be possible to ensure that everything takes place in time.

Second thing is the architecture of the business as well as that of the ERP solution. No two businesses operate in a manner that mirrors each other. This is the reason a generic ERP solution is nothing more that having an ERP system in place just for the sake of it. Proper ERP system must be in compliance and harmony with the manner in which the business operates. If the business is centralized, the solution must also be centralized and the other way round if that is the case.

Third thing is proper data collection and usage. As told earlier, implementation of an ERP system is a big task. Various types of data would be required. It is of prime importance that the data is collected and used in the most accurate possible manner. You can not run the risk of misplacement of information because it would create a big hole in the entire ERP implementation. The result would be that entire exercise would end up in a failure.

Fourth thing in proper ERP implementation is proper testing. One of the main reasons that ERP implementation projects face delays is because the companies tend to take the testing lightly. The result is that the system ends up in compatibility holes. In order to ensure that such a thing does not occur, proper testing is a must. Fifth aspect is implementation evaluation. It is an ongoing process and is a must because companies tend to grow and the ERP system needs to keep pace.

All in all for the development of a company, an ERP application is a must. To ensure that the application does it work properly it is must that the ERP implementation project must be undertaken successfully. For the ERP implementation job to be successful, observation of these conditions becomes an absolute must.
